Well that's better!

I decided after I wrote my last post, that I would check the iPhone app store to see if there was a Blogger app, and voila, there is! I'm writing my first post with it now.

Hopefully this makes things easier for posting. I'm not sure how well it works with posting photos, but I guess we'll soon find out. I've attached a photo of my current collection of teacups and teapots for Pinxit's 4th birthday. We're having an Alice in Wonderland mad hatter tea party!

Mani Monday

I'm sitting at the library while Pinxit's playing quietly, so I figured it was about time to update. Ever since she broke the laptop (which yes, still isn't fixed - it's just not in the finances right now), I just couldn't be bothered to blog using an iPhone. As great as a phone as it is, it's just not meant to be used as a computer hah.

I have recently stopped having one of the girls at work do my nails, so I pulled out my bucket of polish and started painting again! Being that I'm at the library, I haven't a clue what I have on my nails. It's a kind of irridencent teal shade, which a multicoloured large hex and small round glitter - it makes me think of the circus for some reason. I really like think mani, like a lot.

Happy birthday to me!

I turn 27 today. Pretty weird to think, because I often forget how old I am to begin with. Tonight we'll be celebrating by going to a local Japanese restaurant called Hana it's a really innovative all you can eat restaurant where you pick from the menu and they bring you what you want. But, if you don't eat what you order, you get charged for wasted. Pictures will follow!

Again, I forgot to post on Monday, but here's my Mani Monday photo!

Here are the cupcakes I made; orange cupcakes with vegan almond icing. 366 calories of amazingness.

Think Pink

Tomorrow is the first day of October, and I've persuaded my boss to do some charity work to raise money for breast cancer research. As of right now the only thing set in stone is that we will be doing a "pink package" - mani, pedi, 1/2 hour massage, and cut for a discounted price of $125; $25 of that going right to charity. We will also be selling "I heart boobies" bracelets, and having a deal on pink loop and lock extensions.

I'm hoping we will also have time to plan an event, which would include things like "how to" classes (blowdry/style, makeup, etc), food and drinks, a silent auction, deals on services and retail, and have a nurse from the health unit come in and do a self check class, as so very few doctors actually do this, and  especially not on the younger crowd. I kind of waited till last minute to suggest this though, so we will have to wait and see. I'm just excited that my boss wants to make it an annual event!

The main thing I wanted to post though, is I intend to colour my hair pink for the entire month! It's not uncommon to see someone "like me" with pink hair, but even if it gets one person to comment and I can inform them of the hard work I'm putting together to help raise awareness, then I've succeeded.

Mani Monday! Ok, Wednesday...

Again, forgot to post on Monday! I did some shellac on myself at work yesterday. I didn't do that great of a job, but I'm learning!

As well, I've began my weight loss journey; I'm hoping to be down 100lbs in the next 12 months, and so far I've lost 11lbs! Pretty excited!

We've been using the My Fitness Pal app on our phones to track our calories. Here's a photo of this weeks breakfast.

Mani Monday!

I've decided in an attempt to post more frequently, that I'd have a few 'theme' days! So here's the first; Mani Monday! I know it's no longer Monday, but I just figured out how to write on my phone.

So here is my nails I did on Monday, I had seen a Chanel mani that was super cute, so I used it as reference. I normally don't do 3D art on my own nails because I'm so rough on my hands, so I tried to keep it simple. For polish I used; Alpine Snow - OPI, Black Onyx - OPI, two Wet N Wild glitters (Kaleidoscope and I can't recall the other's name), a Franken I made, as well as Luxe and Lush - China Glaze on the tip of the ring finger, and Love Your Life - Nicole on the middle finger.

Work, spend, sleep, repeat.

Work is picking up for me, I've had a few really good weeks where I've done a head of extensions every day, and had some really slow weeks where I've only made like $100. I sometimes wish I wasn't commission based, but when I see those huge pay cheques I'm not one to complain.

At the salon we decided to have a giveaway, for a "hair to toes" makeover with a value of $700 worth of product and services. We've been getting a ton of fans on our Facebook group, and a bunch of entries. We're going to see how this one goes, and if it works out well, we plan to eventually work up to one a month. Several new customers coming in for our half of waxing wednesday special, and general inquiries about other services we offer. I'm going to learn to wax and do nails as well I think, because if I have a slow day, though I won't make much on some services ($2.50 for an eyebrow wax for example) at least I can take some walk-ins and maybe use my magical upselling skills and get them in for extensions.

In July is The Sarnia Baby Show, which I have rented a booth for - it was a complete steal at $60 for the vendor fee, I've found a tent at Walmart for $25, and the local rental place I can get 4 tables and 2 chairs for $50. I mostly plan to advertise, as I don't know if I'll have enough time to make a ton to sell, but I intend to have a bunch of displays and business cards for people to view first hand what it is I do. So I'm finally going to get around to finishing my belly cast, and the one my friend Lindsay let me make for display purposes, I intend to have images of all the previous commissioned baby name canvases I've done, I've been working on patterns for felt food, and I'm currently waiting for my fake nails to come in the mail so I can start painting up sets for sale. I also intend to have brochures for the salon, a giveaway box (for whatever my boss wants to donate), and maybe if she's alright with it, I'll have coupons for $5 off extensions or something to hand out. I'm hoping this helps keep me busy, because the more money I make, the more that can go into our savings account, and the sooner we can buy a car.

Originally we were saving up to send Eman to Hamilton for a week for a barbering course, and then he would take a 2 month apprenticeship at a local ABA shop, but finding and funding living arrangements doesn't seem like it will work in our favour. BUT I got chatting with my boss, who's husband has a barber shop over in Port Huron (state side), and she said it's too bad we don't have a car because he could go learn from her husband. So now the plan is to get a car and his passport, and then he can travel everyday to go learn, and then hopefully once given the go ahead, we could have the upstairs room at the shop turned into a barber shop. Not entirely sure ho we would work childcare for Pinxit into the mix at the moment. I also was thinking today that there is a room that they intend to use for foot cleanses, but no one has even asked about them, so IF my art picks up to the point it's interfering with my job, I might suggest moving the foot cleanses into the pedicure room, and ask to rent out that room. That way I can be at work if a walk in comes in, but if not, I can work on my art.

It was such an annoyance today; I have a regular who is a total sweetheart and would give you the shirt off her back, but, she's also known for forgetting her appointments even though we give her an appointment card, and call all our customers the night before to remind them. I had my entire day booked out for her to do highlights and redo her extensions, and she never answered any of the calls… Today would have been perfect for me to be able to just pop upstairs, and spend the 6 hours I spend sitting around playing around with my phone working on something else instead. I would have gone home had I not had a client at 3:15 (and actually did consider going home and coming back, but the manager told me to wait around and eventually it didn't feel worth it to walk all the way home and back again). I also was kicking myself because I took my book out of my purse thinking I would be busy all day, so not to bother.

In other news, we recently scored some awesome stuff for cheap off a local "mommy market" Facebook page - for Mother's Day we got a Wii for $100 I think with 4 or 5 games, and then yesterday the Wii Fit board and game - brand new still sealed for $70 I think, an iPod today for $40, Eman's gotten himself some cd's, we had gotten a male Boston Terrier but he wasn't a good fit with Vincent and we contacted the owner trying to give him back the next morning and she already spent our money… So we found a friend in London to take him - which we also found a dog crate for $30 on there too so we included that with him. He seems to be a perfect fit for them, so we're really excited for him, he's such a nice dog.

What else… At the end of the month I'm finally getting my "Momma" tattoo. Been waiting at least a year to get it, and it keeps getting pushed back, which is a huge bummer. First time was because my friend didn't give me enough of a heads up that she couldn't take me to get it done (though she was the one who brought me to my consult so I assumed she would be bringing me back), and couldn't find anyone mid-week to take me, and by the time we called to change the appointment, and what time my FIL had available, all her Saturdays were booked up, so it was moved to the 23rd. But now I think we have to move it back another week because the artist is getting a new liner machine. I really hate getting tattooed in the summer, so I hope I can get it all done in one sitting (front of my ribs, not sure if I can sit for 3 hours), because I don't want to have to wait till October to finish it…

On Saturday I'm going to see Hawksley Workman at Artwalk (part of my Mother's Day gift as well) - pretty freaking excited, except my husband bought two tickets and doesn't plan to go with me now, so I have to find someone to go… Not easy when you have little amount of friends, and none that like the same music as you. I was going to ask my MIL to go with, but there's been a recent family crisis and I don't think she'll be up for it. Maybe I'l just walk around and ask people in the crowd if they'd like a free ticket…

My sleep schedule is pretty messed up right now, which is quite ironic I find, as last weekend I wrote out a daily schedule to fit in working out, homeschooling, outdoor play, etc into our days. I've slept in almost every day, and then today I came home and napped for 3 hours… Hence why it's now a new day and I'm writing this instead of sleeping. I blame it on Eman turning our bedroom into a freezer box blasting the AC - I have the hardest time (like most) getting going in the winter mornings because who wants to get out of a nice warm bed? I literally have slept with 2 blankets a few nights because it's that cold… I'm just waiting for the day when he burns out the motor and it's the middle of August and we are melting.

Simple Mom "Project Simplify" week 2 challenge - Kitchen

Week two, and I found there wasn't a whole lot for me to do. Being that we just moved, we haven't really had much time to mess up the place - not that that's a bad thing...

Our kitchen is very lacking in storage and size, so we have things kind of everywhere. We had to put our red IKEA locker thing (I think it originally was a tv stand) in the dining room for extra storage and put our microwave, coffee maker, and toaster on top of it. I store almost all my baking things inside. Our counter is only big enough for a dish rack on one side, and a small cook space on the other, so we've got things in some pretty creative spots. We also took one of our IKEA shelves and use it as a pantry.

My only area that needed a bit of attention was our one food cupboard. I recently bought some club size staples and hadn't gotten around to putting them in their canisters, so I took this week to do that. I didn't realize how many containers we were up to, and when I started switching over to them I just used some painters tape to label. Wasn't pretty, but it did the job. Well now that it's en vogue to do this, I went on Etsy and found this cute shop, and purchased some reusable chalkboard labels and a chalk marker (as well as a bunch of things for Pinxit's upcoming birthday). Unfortunately they're not here yet, but at least you can see how I tidied up the cupboard.

I also cleaned up our spices. I found this idea a while ago (I think possibly on Simple Mom), where you put spice jars on a tray or in a container. In my case, I went with cake pans. I also ordered labels for these.

I'm most excited for the next two weeks - closets, counter tops, and drawers because we really need to do something about our bedroom closets, and the last is our pick. I've decided to do my art space. It never gets fully unpacked and organized, which makes it hard for crafting.

Simple Mom "Project Simplify" week 1 challenge - Kid's Stuff

As I mentioned in my last post, I have been hard at work trying to do some decluttering and purging in Pinxit's room. Pre and post move we always go through everything and try to get rid of everything we can. We really hate how much stuff we have.

At least this time we've made a huge dent in things.

Pinxit's closet was packed to the gills with boxes of clothing; hers (outgrown and to grow into), mine, Eman's, boy clothes (you know, for that baby we don't have), baby blankets and bedding, etc. On Monday morning I pulled out something like 10-15 boxes and as a family we all sat down and went through everything. It was really hard on me to go through her baby clothes - there was one and a half large boxes (3x3x1 in size) jam packed of her stuff, and I was able to get rid of half.

girl clothes we donated (before folding)
Eman got rid of almost everything he had in storage and that same day we had a friend come by and take nearly all of it, and all the baby girl clothes we gave to a friend the next day for her sister who is expecting. 7 boxes of stuff in total (4 of them clothing), and we still have 4 to get dropped off.

all the donated clothes
When it came to the rest of her room we didn't have much left to donate, so it was just a bunch of cleaning, organizing, and rearranging.

The easiest way I could organize without spending anything, was to use Ziploc bags to sort and store all of her little toys. The funny thing, the prize for this challenge, are these really cool Lay-n-Go activity mats which have a draw string on them, allowing you to lay out the toys, then scoop them up as a fast way to tidy up toys! I showed these to my husband and he said when we're able to, we're going to buy her a few. The baggies are only a temporary solution, and I know with time they're going to tear apart, so I can't wait till we can get ours.

I used the smaller bins we had to put all her dress-up clothes, and her pretend food in. There was also a tiny bin, which now houses her dolls. Again, with all the loose pieces in a baggie.

I didn't really want to get rid of any of her movies, but more importantly I wanted all her books in her bookshelf (in one of the before shots you can see a ton of books in a green milk crate and all around it). The compromise, I went through her books, got rid of anything I didn't enjoy reading, or enjoy the wording or subject matter (for example, books that use the word 'fat' or make fun of anyone, or "Hooper Humperdink...? Not him!" by Dr. Seuss - because I'm sorry, though at the end he finally does include him, I feel it's a horrible book; you can't at the last moment include the child and think it's ok...), I did not read every book though, so there may be more to weed out at a later date now that she's not so obsessed with reading the same 5 books. I also took out exercise books and put them aside for when we start homeschooling. I then put all the movies that were not Disney into the milk crate and tucked them up on her closet shelf - that way she still has them, but they're not cluttering up her space. She now even has a spot for her shoe collection.

bookshelf all redone

All in all, things turned out great. I unpacked and went through every box, unpacked all her wall decor and even put some of it up, and have plans to get rid of one of her large activity toys that she never plays with. Next step will be to paint and get her a big girl bed (as we had to leave her last one in Ottawa for my sister who moved in as soon as we moved out) and bedding, work on some art for her walls, and to finish decorating.

Same old song and dance...

Quite a bit has happened since I last posted; most predominant, the fact that my father kicked us out. I really don't want to get into the details, but the main point is that my father was linked to this blog - most likely by my sister - and because I spoke ill of him, he told us after we returned from our trip to Wallaceburg and Sarnia (a 9 hour drive away) that we had a week to move. We were able to resolve several things before we left, but we did not feel secure staying there, and decided to leave as soon as possible. I haven't heard from my father since we left, even though I've made contact twice. I've given up. Like I promised myself with the resolutions, I have let go of the past, and I am weeding out 'the bad'. I don't need the heartache.

...

Fast forward almost two months; we moved into an acceptable apartment that's not in the best condition or the best neighbourhood about 4 weeks ago (after sleeping on people's couches since just after New Years), and we're still trying to get settled. There's a ton of things just lying around waiting to be purged or find a place to stay in our home. We had to borrow $1,200 from a friend as well as all the money I had saved for Eman's schooling to afford the move, so we really don't have anything to play with to help organize or beautify the space.

I have gained employment, we sort of... There is a salon and spa that is in need of stylists, but it is commission based only. Being that I have no clientele, this could be a problem. I do however, get to choose my own hours. I'm trying to stay optimistic about it all, but when there's no extra funds for advertising or to upgrade some of my tools I've given away or that have broken over time, it kind of puts a damper on things. I do however, have a few really great ideas on how to bring in some clients, so hopefully they work out.

Pinxit's 3rd birthday is in a month, and I have slowly begun the party planning procedure. She has asked for a Toy Story birthday party. I've pretty much got everything figured out with the help of Pinterest, it's just a matter of waiting for funds to come in to purchase items needed. It's going to be really amazing I think. Also, she is now fully self-led potty trained, and only needs protection at night. She has even successfully gone on an outing without an accident. I'm happy we no longer have to keep her naked (the only way she would sense she needed to go), and people will feel comfortable around her again.

I will soon be posting photos of our apartment, starting with our 'spring cleaning' inspired by Simple Mom - I have been a follower of this site for the last two years, but this is the first year I'll be actually participating. This week the target zone is kids rooms. I can't wait to post at the end of the week what we have been able to do so far! I even have Eman on board helping (which normally I wouldn't allow). Please, feel free to head over to the site and join in! It's more exciting when you have someone to share your hard work with I find.

New Year's Resolutions

I'm not one for this sort of thing, but maybe if I post somewhere about these things, it will hold me accountable and help me fulfil them.

Health:
1. Continue losing weight - I've currently lost 15lbs with diet alone (as in, this bitch doesn't get off her ass and do shit), and I would like to begin working out 1. so I can eat more haha, and 2. so I can be physically active and do strength training.

2. Drink more water - I barely drink anything, and I know it's really bad for me and my kidneys. I can't justify drinking away calories, so I'm on a big Perrier with Crystal Light kick (which is amusing, because I was 'carbonated beverage free' since I was 17 until I met Emmanuel, and I still don't really ever drink the stuff). I've started occasionally drinking various herbal teas, so it's helping me get fluid in my system.

3. Become a locavore - We already eat 95% Ontario grown and raised foods, but I would like to take it a step further. Unfortunately we don't know where we will be living during the next harvest season, so as much as I want a garden of produce all of my own, we can only stick to things we can easily up and move if need be. Luckily we live in a city that has farming within city limits, so we will continue to pick our apples right off the tree, amongst other things. Unfortunately the Farmer's Markets are not as regular as they were in Kitchener, nor are they as close by. I'm most excited to start canning. Yup, I'm old.

4. Eat clean, eat real - We already do for the most part, but I would really like to rid our home of processed or prepared items. It seems very daunting when think about it, but really, as a stay at home mom, why can't I?

Personal:
1. Make time for me - I am notorious for filling my time with crafts or tasks for others, but never really making time for me. Things I would like to do more: Read, knit, craft/art, paint my nails, take a bath, listen to music. Maybe even take a class or two. I also want to focus on finally starting a business from home as it's been my dream for years and all I ever do it talk about it. Time for action.

2. 1 hour technology free - This is mainly for me so that I can give undivided attention to Pinxit, but I think it's also important to ensure Pinxit turns off technology so she can turn on life. No texting, no internet, no movies, etc. Just us. I don't know if I'd go to the extent of "power free", because there are wonderful things we can do like baking or going a taking photos which to me are quality activities as well.

3. Don't compare - I need to stop thinking I need to do more, be more, be better, to be a good person or a good mom. I'm freaking amazing, and I need to start telling myself this more. I shouldn't want to be something I'm not capable of being unless I surrender other things I find important in my life.

4. Let the past go - Forget about the drama, the bad landlords, the hurtful things friends have said/done in the past. Move forward.

Life:
1. Live intentionally - This is the mission statement of a blog I submit to, and to me it means that for anything you do in life, it should have a purpose. Now that doesn't mean the intention can't be "for fun", I just don't want to continue to wake everyday without doing something purposeful. Having a task or mission to complete in a day, however minute it is, makes life worth living.

2. Live simple - again spinning off from the same blog; I do not want to be consumed by "things". I want to have practical/useful and beautiful things, and reduce the amount of clutter we continue to cart with us every move we make. I want to be able to know where everything is with my eyes closed.

3. Gain security - I have harped about this for years that we need a solid 'nest egg' or 'emergency fund', but I really would like to make it top priority now. I have worked magic to make it possibly for Eman to go to school without loans, so once he is done, making sure we don't have to struggle if something unpredictable comes up, is top priority.

4. Plan to travel - We financially can't do it at the moment but I would like to start, maybe when Pinxit turns 4, travel to each province and territory. Maybe do it as our 'year end trip' each 'school year'. I would love to travel more than that, but I think for now, it is a reasonable goal.

Friends and Family:
1. Make more face time - Specifically, for those who make time for me, and less for those who don't. I've noticed I'm really bad for not wanting to make plans when I get invites and sometimes coming up with excuses, or avoiding the question. I have no idea why I do this.

2. Call my friends and family more - I have a phone, I have 'all the time in the world', so I don't know why I don't call people more often. Sure, I hate talking on the phone, but if people are unable to make face time, I should at least try the second best thing.

3. Weed out the bad, keep all the good - I've done pretty well with this, but I would like to further reduce the drama and stress in my life, and just focus on peaceful living.

4. Give back - We have been through some really hard times, and whenever we've needed something, there was always some wonderful person in our life to help us out. We've had friends and family give or lend us money so we can pay our rent or bills, give us food/cook for us, buy Pinxit diapers or clothes, and though I think I am a generous person already, I would like to start doing random acts of kindness for those near and dear to me, or even complete strangers.

What are your resolutions?

Christmas, Christmas time is here, time for joy and time for cheer

Christmas went exceptionally well all things considered (my father couldn't be bothered to wake up to watch Pinxit open her gifts, eat Christmas breakfast with us that we made for everyone, or even say Merry Christmas). Because of my super savvy shopping skills, in the month of December we only spent $50 (of our own - family sent money as well) on Pinxit; everything else she got was either handmade or previously purchased. Way to go me! Hah.

As for Emmanuel and myself, we basically just bought ourselves things (on his parents behalf, and with our own money), which included things like headphones, books, nail polish, hair colour, and lots of clothes. Well potentially lots of clothes. This has been a pain in the butt… We made two purchases online where we saved a ridiculous amount of money (I myself got over $300 worth of clothing for like $115 I think it was), but we've been having huge issues with the shipping company.

Our packages arrived from the states before Christmas(I was amazed that their two day "get it in time for Christmas" shipping even applied to Canada), but we were visiting a friend on the 22nd and 23rd, and were not informed of our duty fees, so we didn't leave money with my brothers at the house. Well we tried everything we could to get it in time for Christmas with no luck. We contacted DHL and had them forward the parcels onto my father-in-laws house 9 hours away, which they said they would likely arrive by the 27th. My package did not arrive till the 30th (yesterday), and we are now at my mother-in-laws place (not the same city), and Emmanuel's package didn't even leave Ottawa - they actually tried delivering it to our place in Ottawa again yesterday… Oh, and the delivery guy didn't even have change for the duty, so we have to contact customs if we want to attempt to get it back… I personally will not be shipping with DHL ever again, and when we purchase from this site again, I will specially request they ship with another company, even if that means I have to pay for my shipping (orders over $100 receive free shipping).

Best part, I packed 3 shirts and 2 pairs of pants for my trip, knowing I had to bring back everything I purchased, so I haven't had clean clothes for several days now. At least I packed enough underwear and socks… Hopefully once I do get the items at least a few fit. I intentionally purchased some things with the intent to 'shrink' into them with weight loss, something to look forward to I guess.

It's a real shame one can't choose their family members...

I apologize for my lack of attention and dedication to my writing, we've been dealing with some heavy, heart breaking, and angering things lately.

A little back information is required; back in August - when Jessica was due to deliver and we were set to move the last week of the month - was my brother in law's wedding. For anyone who has helped with a wedding, be it your own, a friend, or family member, can attest that it's a lot of work, and can be very stressful. I myself dealt with my fair share, being that I was so heavily involved with major parts of the wedding. Weeks, maybe even days before the wedding, the bridesmaids dresses arrived and were available to be picked up and altered. A ton of issues with those - to the point that my cousin(in law) and I had to swap dresses because my dress was too big, and hers was one too small(yet, not a perfect match for either of us, and I had to have her dress let out, and she had to have my dress taken in for them to fit us). The dresses ended up costing us more that half the cost of my wedding dress - we were not too pleased. Aside from this, I made 120 cupcakes, made my first wedding cake, and their wedding topper. Being in the wedding party and that they didn't hire any help for the day, I lead the wedding party(well the girls at least, the guys were getting tanked I assume) in setting up all the tables for the buffet that was supposed to begin right after we all made our entrance to the hall. While icing 120 cupcakes... As you can imagine, my stress level was high.

Upon returning home after the wedding, I was greeted by a filthy kitchen, and messy living room. On a good day, I would shrug this off, but after what I had just endured for the past few weeks, I was livid. I went to bed, and the following morning we went off to my father in law's to visit with the newlyweds and my husband's out of town family members. It was the afternoon, maybe early evening when we got home, and my sister and her boyfriend were sprawled on the couch, the house in the exact same condition as the night before. They returned to their room when we came in, and while unpacking our things, our one puppy Fenway pooped on the carpet.

This set me off, and I yelled for them to do their chores right away; and Joe had the nerve to come out and in a very rude tone say "Well you could have just asked". Emmanuel freaked out on him, and rightfully so - how dare he speak to me in that manner after everything we had done for them and that baby... From taking Jessica in when she got in trouble with the law and ran away from home, to being deceived and only finding out after 3 months that Jessica was pregnant, taking what little bit of money we had for Christmas for ourselves and giving it to her so she could go visit Joe while we opened nothing Christmas morning, we had an extremely tight budget yet I found a way to GIVE her $100 every month(until Joe moved in, we just could not afford to do it), all the nonsense we dealt with from Joe's parents(from his mother saying things like how she 'sense' spirits, and that there wasn't one for the baby, therefore it meant they were going to abort, or lose the baby, to her trying to have my husband arrested when we came to pick up Joe for him to move in), Jessica running away and us taking her back even though she said some really nasty things to us, letting her 'drop out' of school and I began homeschooling her, letting Joe move in after he turned 16 without a dollar from his parents to help support him, putting up with his laziness and complacent attitude, the list goes on and on...

All while we housed them, fed them, bought things for the baby(large ticket items too, like the carseat), attended every one of her OB appointments with her, forced her to eat when she said she wasn't hungry(being a teen girl she had body issues), buying food or litter for her cat when they were stupid and wasted their money on junk food instead of their child or pet, being the ONLY people in the world who said "you can do this, you have the potential", rather than telling them to abort. Hell, we offered to adopt the baby, but they were too immature to realize personal feelings shouldn't come before the welfare of an innocent child(the reason they said no was because they couldn't stand to see their child call someone else mom and dad)... We had CAS in our lives as well as a therapist for her, which put our own daughter at risk of being taken away if they felt she was in harms way being around Jessica. We offered to take them on vacation THREE TIMES during the short period they lived with us, but because two were camping trips Joe had none of it.

Getting back to the point, this turned into a huge name calling match and my dad drove for 9 hours each way to retrieve them, rather than telling them to suck it up and stop running away from their problems like they always do... Nope, my dad, the man who is supposed to love me and care for my well being as well as his only grandchild(at the time), decided that fucking us over was the right thing to do. He knew we would not be able to afford the move without Jessica receiving any government funding(which she would receive as soon as she popped out the baby, before the move was to happen) because we had liquidated all savings we had to stay afloat while these two unappreciative asses lived with us. During all this - the day before the wedding - we had a tribunal hearing for our landlords. I won't go into detail as this post will turn into a novel, but the gist of it all is I was under so much stress I did not have a period for 6 months. Six freaking months. And for those who don't know, we had been trying to conceive for a year. I underwent tons of appointments for physicals, ultrasounds, and endless amounts of blood and urine samples, but nothing was wrong with me medically. So imagine how I felt, watching this unappreciative teen who got knocked up by her stupid boyfriend and couldn't even take proper care of herself(she cut and did drugs while pregnant, who knows what else), I was, and still am angry and jealous that we have had such a hard time this time round, and she was blessed with this beautiful gift that she has the ability to destroy by poor parenting...

Somehow after all this, I still felt like I had to 'save' my father and sister. My father was(and still is) drowning in debt, and dealing with depression. My sister would not be able to raise that child on her own. We decided to put our credit at risk, and we used our grocery and bill money and rented a Uhaul van, and moved in with my dad, as originally planned. $1,000 and four months later, and we are still catching up on our finances. We are at risk of having our hydro bill from the last apartment go to collections, we nearly had our cell phones cut off this month because of our $600+ phone bill... We're not living the high life by no means. Yet we arrived, and Joe was living here - something we made very clear could not happen for us to move in. The house was DISGUSTING. I'm taking 14 years of nicotine and dust built up on the walls and every piece of furniture that had not been moved since we visited in March(which we made clear at that time, that the living room was to be cleared out, and I was going to send money for a steam cleaner to be rented and used on the filthy carpet), a grimy and health hazardous kitchen, a bathroom that was not fit to be used it was that dirty... When we arrived, we had enough floor space in the living room for our mattress. At least we had a place to sleep, right?

The entire time we have lived here, I have fought tooth and nail with my father. From his relentlessness to allow his items to be put in storage, or all the garbage/broken items to be disposed of, or taking a moment out of his action packed day(he is unemployed, that was sarcasm) to drop off a load of donations... He is a hoarder. Not like the tv shows, but pretty damn close(though he would never EVER admit that), to simple things like making room in the fridge for our food. I've never seen such a pig headed person in my life. All it's been since we've lived here is how we can make his life better, and fast. Yes, we moved in to help with the finances, but I am not going to go without(when I have spent the last year living bare minimum already, I'm not going to go with even less), nor will my child. Every nice gesture we have tried to make hasn't been enough. He honestly thought we were all going to pool all the money everyone had every month, pay off all his bills/expenses/maxed out credit card and put savings aside for his vehicle maintenance, and then I guess divide whatever was left for everyone's spending money? Great idea in theory, but I'm not going to have someone else control that much of my life(especially one who has failed to pay so many of his bills previously, as well as while we have lived here).

What person, let alone grandparent would say this "You know, it really annoys me seeing you being able to finish your Christmas shopping when I can't even put food on the table"? I'm sorry you fucking suck at finances. I'm sorry you think having a vehicle, insurance on it, gas, buying smokes, going to the bar to try and get business for your guitar 'business', are all more important to you than paying your bills or feeding your two sons or yourself. Yup, I feel REAL bad for you. 6 months ago, yes, but after watching you fail to do anything to help yourself for the 4 months we've lived here, I don't have an ounce of compassion for you anymore.

We are able to buy the things we can because of proper budgeting. I would love for us to have a vehicle, but guess what, we cannot afford the monthly payments, let alone the insurance so I would not even consider looking right now. Even with our two outstanding bills, we have been able to reduce our bill to around $400, and next month we begin making payments on our old hydro bill. And guess what it took? Basic math, and a few phone calls. I will not feel sorry for buying my child gifts for Christmas if I physically can(I am so thankful for sales), and leave programs like Toy Mountain for those who cannot. I'm sorry I bought my daughter a new snowsuit and boots rather than looking to charity or second hand stores, because I waited for them to go on sale(that, and my mother offered to pay back majority of the cost). I will never purchase anything full price if I don't have to. I coupon so we can eat better quality food. I will not be made to feel bad for buying 10 toys for my child for Christmas. That's all she's getting from us. There are other items as well, but they were either purchased months ago(all her "Santa gifts", books on sale, end of season clothing), or homemade(dollhouse, knitted poncho). And even if she gets more than that, we've made it possible by going without elsewhere.

Getting kind of off track though, Jessica and Joe ran away from their problems, yet again, moved to his dad's - his dad fought with him and he fell down the stairs, so they ran away to his mom's place... Well we told Jessica before she even gave birth that if the baby ever came in contact with Joe's mom, that we would call CAS on them. She agreed. She was well aware this would happen. It wasn't an empty threat. So I did. I also had heard that Joe's dad had beaten him, not that they had been arguing on the stairs, and Joe pulled away from his dad who was pulling him upstairs(so they wouldn't wake up the baby), and Joe fell down... I felt that with the information I was given, that it was not a safe environment for the two teens, let alone their child. I will never feel bad for calling, because in my eyes there was and still is danger in that baby's life. I actually am rather upset that CAS didn't work harder to locate the baby(I did not know Joe's mom was living nearby, from what I understood she was still living in Oakville, and I guess because of this, they couldn't pursue... So basically if you beat a child, you can move jurisdictions and keep on abusing... Awesome program you have set up CAS).

We recently(as in 4 days ago) had a CAS worker show up at our door while we were out, I called the number on the card, and we had from then(around 2pm) till 10:30am to make our house acceptable in CAS's eyes. The house at this point was not too bad, just an over all cleaning of the place, it was just the kitchen and Jessica's old room that needed a ton of work. We cosleep, and JUST put her bed into storage so my art desk could move from the living room to the bedroom to make more room for Pinxit to play, so 5 garbage bags later, a lot of scrubbing, vacuuming, and organizing, and Pinxit now has a temporary room(which was previously inhabited by Jessica, Joe, and the baby, and I have photos that would shock you... dirty diapers and wipes on the floor, rotting food, cat litter and feces on the carpet, poop or vomit on the floor, etc). While doing this, my father had the nerve to inform me that the room was still Jessica's and I basically shouldn't be touching her things/making it a room for Pinxit because if anything were to happen between Jessica and Joe, it's rightfully hers. I had already yelled down to him and my older brother to come clean the filthy kitchen(as I have done basic cleaning on it - scrubbing out the fridge, all counters, and top to bottom scrubbed film off of one corner of the kitchen - but I refuse to be their bitch and clean up anything I don't use/our food comes in contact with), and my father didn't lift a finger. I retorted to his comments with something along the lines of "...And if that happens, she can take it back. But I will not have my child taken away so she can have a room here."

When Joe's mom called CAS on them, we all busted our asses - myself the most - so that the house was baby proofed and clean enough (it was in a horrid state at this point). My father was in on the help too, so you can only imagine how I feel about my father right now. Me, my family, are yet again second rate to "precious Jessica", and though I have recently confronted him that he doesn't love me as much as Jessica(or at all), he has just proved again that I don't matter. Who the fuck would sit back and watch as people slave away cleaning a home that doesn't even belong to them, and not offer to help, knowing what the outcome could be if the CAS worker is not satisfied? And yet my husband protected him and said there was no need to have the fire marshal come inspect the basement as it likely isn't up to coding, and did not allow the worker to inspect downstairs(we do not allow Pinxit downstairs so she had no reason to insist)...

Our case will be closed, as the reason we were being investigated was that we; beat our child, we live in an unsanitary home, and that we fight in front of our child using profane language. Yes, the home when we moved in was not fit for inhabitance in my opinion, but I've worked long and hard of getting it in order. It will never be perfect so long as my brothers and father live here. There's only so much one person can do. We do not beat our child, for people who may not be able to ever have another child do you not think we would hold extreme importance on the one we do have, more so than we previously did? And laugh if you want, but we do not fight in person. Since our first fight when we began dating, we have always done so through texting. I am for the most part, passive(though it has gradually started to change in the last year). I LOATHE fighting. That, and I am not that good at speaking, especially when it comes to emotional topics, I do best with writing. I find I am most honest if I don't have their eyes peering back at me. I don't know why, just am. The only time there have been fights in front of Pinxit, they have all involved Jessica and/or Joe.

Therefore, we know who called; because the only people who have been allowed into my father's house are a few of my younger brother's friends(who walk from the door to his room), and Jessica and Joe. No one else is allowed passed the front door, the very select few have been allowed in the front hall. Whether or not they made the call themselves, I likely won't ever know as I plan to never speak to them again, but whoever called got their bogus information from them. Therefore, I hold them completely accountable for it. I have so many ill thoughts towards them, it frustrates me that I can't stop thinking about it. I also have a ton of resentment towards my father, because I can only assume he knew about this(or now knows from speaking with Jessica), and the way he has continued to treat us through all this. Once we are financially able to leave, we will. We were going to help repair this house, finish all the incomplete renovations, we were even going to take out a loan to completely redo the kitchen because of the condition it is in, but no more. He can keep digging his hole, and fall deeper into his self inflicted depression, I just don't care anymore. We moved 9 hours away from people who would KILL for my child, my husband, and likely even myself. These people love us unconditionally, and we repaid them by tearing ourselves out of their lives to try and help these ungrateful wastes of space. I wish we could undo it all, uninvite Jessica to live with us, offering to help out my dad, everything.

SO much to catch up on...

Alright, so since I last posted, we have; moved to Ottawa, Jessica has had her baby(a boy, named Andrew), I had all four wisdom teeth extracted(and got dry socket in one of them), we 'won' our tribunal case and were able to terminate our lease and never have to deal with such horrible landlords again... We went camping at Algonquin Park, and Emmanuel's brother got married(which I was in the wedding party and made the cake, cupcakes, and cake topper for). That's all the big things really.

I feel like a whole new person living back home. I haven't had the chance to see many people since being here, but it's been great to see those who we have. My friend Mae flew in from Victoria, so we've been visiting with her. It sucks she has to live so far away, she's such a good friend.

Anyways, I'll keep this short, because I have many photos to share! Please note, I haven't had time to edit any of the camping photos, so I apologize for the darkness in some of them. I came home with something like a thousand photos, it's a bit overwhelming.
